Schedule: Festival of Money 23-25 July 2021

CoB’s Festival of Money at The Cockpit

FOR PUBLIC VIEWING
ALL EVENTS ARE STRICTLY 18+ ONLY

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
FRIDAY 23RD JULY - Money and Climate
SATURDAY 24TH JULY - Money and Art
SUNDAY 25TH JULY - Money, Community and Society

Statement from CoB:

This programme of events is correct as of 14th July 2021. As we are sure you can appreciate, organising this event is made especially difficult by the uncertainty over the easing of covid restrictions.

Please be assured that both Church of Burn and The Cockpit will operate in a way that minimises the risk to cast, crew and audience whilst allowing everyone to enjoy the event as much as possible.

Please see the Cockpit's Covid page for details of their audience policy. Please bring a mask to wear when you move around the building. The bar will be open. An increased number of tables will be available in the Foyer and you can also take drinks into the Auditorium. Capacity will be limited to 90 people (down from 160) to allow adequate space for social distancing. Spaces will be well ventilated and the doors to the Auditorium will remain open. You will not be required to wear a mask when you approach the Altar to make your sacrifice. The Company of Church of Burn will be tested regularly throughout the event.

The reason we've chose to present Church of Burn's Festival of Money as such a difficult time is as follows:

CoB is committed to the idea that to affect real, structural and systemic change in the world we must first change our relationship with money. Right now, in the summer of 2021, we must not allow the question of ‘How do we pay for Covid?’ to be subsumed into the standard political and economic discourse. A profound re-evaluation and reimagining of our relation to money is required as a matter of the most extreme urgency. Money is the oxygen on which the fires of global warming burn. We must step into the liminal space - the crossover point between covid restrictions ending and ‘normal’ life restarting - and change the way we are with money.

Myra Stuart and Kate Alderton are delighted to invite you to a very special in person Social Dreaming Matrix

Together we’ll share dreams and associations, looking at where our dreams connect and link to each other, creating patterns of meaning. Afterwards we’ll spend time in a movement-based practice, exploring movements that emerge from our collective dreams, and weaving them together into a simple sequence of movements.

We're delighted to have Carmine De Amicis from Edifice Dance participate with us in the Matrix. Carmine will take the patterns of meaning we uncover to inspire a performance which he will deliver in Sunday's Poetics and Movements of Money Session.

Exploring themes of climate and the dynamics of money, we’ll look at how the natural world might be speaking to us through the language of dreams and invite its voice from deep within the dreaming into our physical bodies through movement.
