Church of Burn at the Satanic Flea Market
Church of Burn’s appearance at the Satanic Flea Market marked the initiation of a new phase of outreach.
Held quarterly at Electrowerkz in Angel, London, the Satanic Flea Market is a well-established counter-cultural gathering, bringing together vendors, performers, fortune tellers, live music, and workshops. Patrons and stallholders alike often enter the spirit of the event through spectacular dress, giving the Market its distinctive, witchy and occult-inflected atmosphere, and cementing its reputation as a hub for underground fashion.
Our Church recognised the Satanic Flea Market as an ideal free-thinking environment in which to speak directly to the public about its radical ideas. Rev Jonathan and Sister Sarah were warmly received at this first outing, though the venue’s fire regulations meant that our trademark mode of ritual sacrifice could not be performed. Not even a single candle was permitted. Plans were instead laid for an alternative form of money destruction at our next appearance, in which individual one-dollar bills would be exchanged and then destroyed using a shredder, in return for a modest donation to Church of Burn.
